Crown Automotive was founded in 1972 when Royce Reynolds moved to Greensboro, NC with a vision to become one of the trade's most successful and progressive automotive retailers. Crown began with a single dealership in downtown Greensboro and grew over the course of the next 25 years to nine dealerships in two states.
On December 12, 1998 Crown Automotive merged with the Asbury Automotive Group (NYSE: ABG), a Fortune 500 company and one of the largest consolidators of automotive dealers.
Today, under the leadership of Michael Kearney, Crown operates eighteen dealerships and represents eleven different manufacturers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and New Jersey.
